You’re building something great,

Lisa Sigman is an attorney in the state of Massachusetts, offering outsourced legal counsel, entity creation, and contract support for small businesses. She is available to entrepreneurs at the various stages in their business to help them legalize their business entity, draft all of the necessary contracts, and advise on all of the steps in-between.

Lisa is a single mother of two beautiful children, a Halloween fanatic, and a proud member of Gen X. She began her post-college career in the medical field before inspiration struck to attend law school, primarily focusing on Intellectual Property. She graduated with honors from Suffolk University Law School in 2005 and opened her first practice immediately after being sworn in as an attorney.

As a business owner, you’re going to have legal needs. Whether it’s making sure you establish a legal entity correctly, knowing which contracts you need in place, knowing who to call when specific legal issues arise, or simply needing an available set of legal eyeballs or ears, Lisa is your go-to contact for all things legal.

  • What is Business Law?

Getting your business from conception to being open for business involves a lot of work. Building a team to get you up and running is critical and includes having a business attorney on your side. Legal needs can begin with entity formation and continue on through drafting and reviewing commercial leases, vendor contracts, client agreements, and more. Whether you’re just launching or have been in business fora while, it’s never too early - or too late - to protect your business.

  • What is a Primary Care Attorney?

Like a primary care physician…for your business. When it comes to your business, you should never worry about asking questions. A Primary Care Attorney on your side will spot issues before they grow, and respond to legal emergencies when they arise - just like your doctor does. She helps you figure out what the issues are, what needs to be done, and recommends specialists when needed. And just as a primary care doctor should - she will advocate for prevention and proactive legal care.

FAQs

  • From conception, registering your business with the state, to establishing contracts to protect your relationships with your clients and vendors, to advising on specific laws you may need to adhere to in your state and industry, Lisa will work with you to create the right legal foundation to protect the business you are working so hard to create.

  • As outsourced general counsel, think of Lisa as a the primary care physician for your business. When you don’t know exactly who you need to talk to, but you know you need to talk to someone with a law degree, Lisa can point you in the right direction. Lisa works with her clients to figure out the issue, create a plan and implement - whether it is fixing the things she is skilled at fixing, or connecting you with the right specialist for the job. She also offers the option of monthly subscription legal services, so that when those tiny little legal questions arise and you just need a couple minutes of a lawyer’s time, she’s got you covered and you don’t have to worry about what it will cost.

  • Yes! The billable hour is so outdated. Lisa doesn’t like watching the clock, and clients don’t like getting billed in 6-minute increments. It’s unproductive and annoying for all involved. All of Lisa’s services are quoted upfront, with a flat fee that includes: all work to be performed, unlimited emails and scheduled calls as needed during the duration of the project, and global edits to drafted documents for 30 days after completion.

Full disclosure - there is occasionally a situation where Lisa has to switch to hourly, and it generally involves matters where there’s an opposing party (like a buyer or seller of a business), but she will let you know that well ahead of time. Lisa doesn’t like surprises any more than you do!

  • No! Lisa works with you as a team member, and you will have direct access whenever needed. Lisa requests calls be scheduled to ensure availability, but will answer all emails within 1 business day (usually less), unless the office is closed (even Primary Care Attorneys need a vacation or day off once in a while).

  • Yep, plenty. That’s why Lisa has worked for over 16 years vetting and building a network of trusted professionals, including other attorneys who specialize in things like Trademarks, litigation and employment law. Just as a primary care attorney doesn’t perform brain surgery, Lisa identifies the client’s issue and needs, provides the appropriate service where her skillset is, and refers clients to vetted, qualified professionals within and outside the legal profession.

  • Lisa offers two types of initial calls with clients:

The Intro Call - This is a free 15-minute call or video so that you can get to know Lisa and learn about how she handles the kind of work you need. There is no obligation on your end, you will receive a quote for services at the time of the call or a written proposal within one business day.

The Analysis and Strategy Session - This is a paid-for session for up to 45 minutes, where Lisa will review your matter in depth and provide a written plan of action. You can then use this plan on your own, with Lisa, or with another professional (or any combination thereof). The fee for this Session is $295, collected in advance.

“Working with Lisa was wonderful! She was incredibly thorough and got my LLC filed in record time. I will certainly be using her again for anything regarding my business in the future.”

— Samantha Loos, Chef & Owner of Root to Table

I contacted Lisa to help me form an LLC for my new business. She came highly recommended by colleagues of mine and I understand why. With my new venture, there was a lot I didn't know and I had a ton of questions. Lisa was very responsive and patient. She took the time to answer my many questions until it all made sense. Initially, I thought about using one of those online services to file my LLC but I'm glad I went with Lisa. Her service is comprehensive and getting personalized help was invaluable.
